THE 5th ANNUAL LOS ANGELES RED NATION FILM FESTIVAL

Los Angeles, CA is the Entertainment Capital of the World and home to the Largest American Indian Urban Community in the Country. Red Nation Film Festival (RNFF) was founded 5 years ago by American Indian actor and award-winning director/producer Joanelle Romero and has become known worldwide as the best venue for marketing American Indian Independent Films. The 5th Annual Red Nation Film Festival is being held during the American Indian Heritage Month and is the only American Indian Film Festival in the City of Los Angeles.

RED NATION FILM FESTIVAL MISSION

The 5th Annual Los Angeles RED NATION FILM FESTIVAL will pulsate through the Entertainment Capital of the World November 13-16, offering outstanding examples of American Indian contribution in film, in the media and in our culture at large--with screenings, panel discussions, music, celebration and ceremony--as only America’s first peoples can provide.

The Festival theme, "Red is Green," serves to expand the boundaries of how American Indians have typically been defined in our culture and to also inspire audiences with the sacred personal relationship to Mother Earth that our tribes have kept alive.

2008 FILM SUBMISSIONS

Submissions are now being accepted for the 2008 Red Nation Film Festival, taking place November 13-16, 2008. The RNFF is accepting submissions of American Indian themed Feature Films; Shorts; Documentary's and International Indigenous Films. Films can be of any genre including drama, comedy, horror, adventure, animation, romance, science fiction, and experimental.

RNFF also accepts: Music videos and PSA’s.

ABOUT RNFF COMPETITION

Guidelines: your film has to have American Indian theme , or leading character American Indian – (female or male), or American Indian director, producer (female or male), be of American Indian decent or all of the above to enter.

"NATIVE HERITAGE FILMS" - Tribal films produced by individual tribes (there are over 500 different Nations).
- “CALIFORNIA INDIANS” – Films of Today & Tomorrow.
- “NO BORDERS” – Indigenous International Films. Focus on Grass Roots community films.
- “NATIVE WOMEN in FILM & TELEVISION – Focused on American Indian Women Filmmakers.
- "ENVIRONMENTAL FILMS – Focused on our support of Mother Earth and her relations.
- “NATIVE YOUTH FILMS” – Directed & Produced by Native youth.
- “CROSS-CULTURAL FILMS” – American Indian themed.
- “THE RNTC WOMEN STUDENT FILMMAKER COMPETITION” RED NATION TELEVISION CHANNEL (RNTC), recognizes the original storytellers of this land - we know that women are the life-givers, visionaries, healers, the 1st feminists - American Indian women carry the history of our culture. All native women students at the undergraduate and graduate level may enter.

All films are judged by industry professionals.

Red Nation Film Festival - Openning Night & Night of Tirbute will be at Paramount Studios.

ENTRY FEES

There is a $15 entry fee for submissions postmarked before August 1, 2008. Submissions postmarked after August 1st must be accompanied by a $25 entry fee.

DEADLINE TO ENTER

September 15, 2008.

Submissions of works in progress will be accepted. RNFF is only accepting films that have been made within 2006 - 2008.
